Trophy and a toffee

There is nobody in the world who does not like to be appreciated. Appreciation is the greatest thing to motivate somebody. Hence we would be arranging for a trophy and a toffee award every month. The star performer of the month will be chosen based on various aspects:

Hygiene -
   * Nails should be cut
   * Hair cut and combed well
   * Neatly dressed

Education-wise
   * Quick Learner/Smart Learner

Discipline
   * Obeys Teachers/Aayammas
   * Follows snacks chart
   * Punctuality
   * Completes Homework
   * Speaks well

and so on... (A detailed list will be given on the date of joining)

The teachers will be taking note of the children and entering their activity on a regular basis in their record book. If parents wish to see the detailed records, we would be readily showing the daily records to them on each parents-teachers meeting. So in front of every parent, teacher and kid, the star performer award will be given. It is to honor the star performer kid and to motivate other kids to achieve the star performer position.

Water Game

Most of the children love playing in water. So after getting permission from the respective parents, we would be arranging for a water game day every month. It will be a fun day for kids. Care takers and teachers will be around them for safety purpose.

Click of the month

We would be regularly capturing funny / naughty / creative movements of the kids during the school time. The same will be published in our blog and also sent to the respective parents through mail. We will also display the photos in our notice board for all to view.
There will be a video session on special occasions to show the parents how their children carried themselves during the show in the school.

Puppet show

Puppet show is one of the best technique to engage kids. Saying a thing orally thousand times is equal to showing it visually once. So we would be planning for a puppet show to tell them stories and to preach good habits and moral.

Library

We have a small library and the parents can take a book for their kids from our library during weekends. They are requested to return the book by Monday. This is just to bring the practice of reading books and to introduce them the concept of library.

Pediatrician checkup

Pediatric check-up will be conducted in the school premises itself for each kid. The advice/prescription will be given to the parents. Normally we do not take the child for a check up except when the child is not well. Certain things like if the child is anemic or is hyper active, etc.,  may not be known to us. So a check-up would serve the said purpose.

A Plant a Child

Each child would be given a plant on the date of joining. It will be in the school premises for the whole academic year. Each flower pot will hold the names of the kid. Each day the teachers / care takers will guide them in watering the plants.
This practice is to create an interest in the child's mind for gardening. At this age, the word global warming may sound Greek and Latin to them and would be difficult for them to understand that plants / trees play a major role in saving the environment around us.
As an education institution it is our role to make them socially responsible. Hence we have chosen this idea!

Dental check-up

Almost 30% of the kids have some problem in their teeth these days. There is nothing to blame about the child. Just for the sake of comfortableness or to divert the kids, parents give them chocolates. This becomes a habit and eventually causes problem in teeth. So we would be arranging for a dental check-up. The purpose is to make the child understand the importance of teeth and how to maintain it by brushing and having control on eatables that might damage the teeth.

About the child from their parents

At the time of admission, we ask the parents to list out the strength and weakness of the kid. The parents are requested to list out the points that they wish to change in their child. For example, the child may be an addict of chocolates (all kids these days know almost 5-6 names of the chocolates) and the parent is concerned very much about the teeth and wants the child to reduce eating chocolates. Given this point, we would take necessary steps such that he/she reduces eating chocolates. Also the list of points would be reviewed on the parents-teacher meeting and the change chart will be put in the kid's file. May be if not all at least a few things can be changed at Hello kids Ilanthalir!
